Chess in Rheinbach 3
More about this list
The Verein Rheinbacher Schachfreunde 1948 meets on Thursday evenings from half past seven at Lindenplatz, after youth training, and plays a blitz tournament on the first Thursday of each month. The club joined the town-centre festival in September 2026, and its first team plays in the Kreisklasse of the Schachverband Mittelrhein.
Rheinbach’s school chess has club support: the team of the St. Joseph-Gymnasium, coached by a Rheinbach club, won its class at the district school competition in the Stadthalle in February 2026 and went on to the NRW final in Hamm. The Katholische Grundschule Merzbach sent its primary team to that final as well.
